You see how I still sent out this newsletter despite having crippling food poisoning this weekend?

Very demure.

Very mindful.

Very considerate.

I don’t go back on my word. I will keep this newsletter on a consistent schedule. I’m being considerate. Very cutesy. I show up. Very mindful.

Let’s have a mindful weekend. Thank yew.

August 9th marked the ten year anniversary of the murder of Michael Brown at the hands of Ferguson police. This death, compounded with existing racial tension and compounded by the decision to let Brown’s body rot in the August heat for hours, set the Ferguson community over the edge and introduced the Black Lives Matter movement. “I’m in the community, and I’m trying to have change for the community. And so I won’t stop just because of a title change.” - Rep. Cori Bush

Progressive congresswoman Cori Bush, D-MO, has lost the primary to AIPAC plant Wesley Bell and will give up her seat representing Missouri next year. A community organizer long before Washington, she told NBC “the thing is it’s not about me. So do we have a ‘Medicare for All’ right now? No. …So then that means that I still have to work for those things.”

She easily won re-election in 2022, defeating state Sen. Steve Roberts by more than 30 percentage points in the Democratic primary. During her time in Congress, she has been a high-profile member of a group of progressive Democrats nicknamed “The Squad.”
