Great take. I don’t think the show is more gratuitously immoral more than anything aimed at GenZ. It’s a concept that could’ve been gripping in the right hands. It’s guilty of being just.....bad. But I do feel like they caved to pressure too early. It could’ve picked up steam and went somewhere interesting
Definitely. I also don't think there's a really middle ground for modern audiences. Either give them porn, or a story that has depth and complexities and makes their brain work a little. I think even with Sam (and Euphoria), The Idol reminds us just how much depth of work, acting, character dev, etc, Zendaya and cast provide to that show. Its different leagues!
REAL. I have no clue what happened to Sam bc in looking over Euphoria season 1, it was actually very strong and coherent. Yet season 2 was a mess. Truly, the incredible talent of that cast is the only thing that anchored it in the second season. Sydney Sweeney gave her all!!
