Love is Blind + Luigi's Website + Free Wendy + Jay-Z vs. Tony + The People vs. Eric Adams + Imperialism, Revived! + Trump Fires Fed Employees + Superbowl Notes + SNL 50
Currently watching what I prematurely thought was the most cringe-free season of Love is Blind to date. I think I was blinded by the Midwestern accents and just how slowwww the engagements dragged on.
My ears perked up, though, when the topic of politics popped up around episode 3. What a treat. Two centrists too scared to admit they’re casual racists who don’t care about anyone but themselves ping-ponging back and forth about how awkward it is to even bring up politics while dating. The male half of this duo [Dave] gripes about how even dating apps ask! What gives, Hinge! Don’t you know in White Utopia people can disagree on political views and still love each other! Because, I guess, Red vs Blue politics is only about, um, tax rates and abortions!
An explanation for those whose soft spots are finally fusing shut: If you steal from your friend, you’re a bad friend. If you punch your friend, you’re a bad friend. If you vote on policy/candidates that promise to hurt your friend, you’re a bad friend. You can’t manipulate yourself into being the victim when your harmful politics make you unsafe to strangers (and society) and make people avoid entering relationships with you.
Also, the “conservative college athlete bro” to “medical something sales bro” to “man who gets engaged/married in loafers without fucking socks on” pipeline must be studied! Sockless grooms in 2025! I had to pause the show and make sure I wasn’t accidentally watching an episode from 2016.
Spoiler alert: Yes he gets engaged, sockless. No, the red headed pick-me who nodded along to everything he said did not get picked. lololol.
Anyway…

“… I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me.” - Hagan Scotten
This week, Hagan Scotten, the former assistant US attorney for the Southern District of New York, became the SEVENTH FUCKING PERSON to resign after refusing to participate in what I can only describe as a scheme to keep a prolific political roach, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in office. Refusing to cave to Trump-ish pressure to dismiss the corruption charges against Adams, Scotten threw up a peace sign and dipped.
